After doing a ton of googling on Apres nails, I decided to book an appointment. Apres nails, which is also referred to as Gel-X nail extensions, are made from the same gel that’s in polish so you can simply soak them off and there’s little to no filing needed. The extensions are more natural looking. They in come in 3 different shapes: square, stiletto and almond. I went with medium length almond shape. The extensions are applied with a layer of clear gel polish, which is cured under an LED lamp to bond it to the natural nail just like when you get a regular gel mani.
A couple things that I learned from trying the Gel-X nail extensions were:
- It is ideal flat nail beds.
- It allows for healthy nail growth. Unlike acrylic, Aprés covers the entire nail bed, which allows the natural to grow with less trauma.
- The extensions last for a month. You don’t need to get fill ins. You can go in for a new design 2 weeks after installation.
Overall, I really like the Apres nails. It’s a really healthy alternative to acrylic. It’s also cost effective. Getting the nails as well as the designs cost me $120 total and it was only an option to get them redesigned in 2 weeks. I didn’t have to make an appointment for a fill in every 2 weeks, which would’ve cost me more.
As you can see below I got almond shape medium length. In the first two pictures you can see when I initially got my nails done. In the last two pictures, you can see how much my nails have grown since I got them done on 9/6/2020 to now 10/3/2020.
